Standard Before Checkout Verification Flow (Shopify Plus)

2min

Note: This arcticle describes the standard before checkout verification flow. This is the default when using BlueCheck before checkout on an ecommerce store. The flow can be modified within the merchant portal or by contacting [email protected].

Step 1: Data Collection and Automatic Verification

When a customer attempts the place an order on your store, BlueCheck grabs the shipping information used in the order and verifies it to ensure that the customer meets the age requirement. This process happens automatically in the background and is able to verify the customer around 90% of time, allowing them to place their order. Sometimes, however, the verification is unable to be completed using the shipping information.

Step 2: The BlueCheck Modal and Additional Ways To Verify

If the verification using the shipping information in unsuccesful, then the BlueCheck modal will appear giving the user two additional ways to verify SSN or Photo ID. If the user opts to use the last four digits on their SSN, they are then verified instantly. If instead they opt to submit the Photo ID verification - the photos are then reviewed with a turnaround time of three minutes or less. If a customer is unable to verify using either the SSN or Photo ID method they will be unable to place an order

What Happens Next? After the Order is Placed

Once the order is placed, the secondary check will be run if it is enabled. Additionally, depending on which ecommerce platform you are using different actions such as applying tags or flags may occur.
